Scouts went to Enchanted Rock.
Monday, March 19 was the deadline to turn in money from the Spring 2007 bag sale. Each Scout has an obligation to sell 30 rolls and turn in his money by the deadline. There is also an option to donate $50 per case (10 rolls per case) for up to 2 cases -- Scouts need to sell at least one case.
Scouts who have not turned in their money by this date will not be able to participate in camping and other activities funded by the bag sale. Activities and costs, such as reservations for camp sites and transportation are directly funded by the bag sale.
For those of you that don't have bags, call Jeanne Whapham and set up a time for you to pick up your bags. Picking up your bags late does not extend the due date.

Troop 1377's tradition is to host an annual event for the Webelos in the Flaming Arrow District called "Webelos Do Your Best", otherwise known as WDYB.
The event is an opportunity for Webelos to camp for two nights at Camp Brosig and to participate in a large number of fun, challenging events that build their skills and confidence, and offer an opportunity to compete in a safe, friendly environment. This is Troop 1377's yearly opportunity to influence young Cub Scouts to continue in the program and model an excellent Scout Troop in action.
Troop 1377 runs WDYB for the Flaming Arrow District and is the Camp host for the weekend. Any Cub Scout, Webelos, or adult Scout leader can count on any Scout from Troop 1377 to answer any questions and to help them in any way.

Finish Section 5b to get the merit badge if you attended the class on Sun, Feb 18 (see the Merit Badge Page, the link below).
This event has been confirmed.
Troop 1377 will teach the Traffic Safety Merit Badge as part of its ongoing Safety Program.
The program will be in the gym on Sun Feb 18 from 1 PM to 5 PM.
You will get this merit badge in 4 hours! This is part of KUMC's Troop 1377 Safety Program -- we expect 100% of Scouts to attain this. Young men driving vehicles and their passengers are at high risk for traffic related injuries and fatalities. This will be a fun way to reduce these risks.
During the Monday meeting slot, Scouts had the opportunity to try scuba diving
at WW Diving Company -- a company in the Humble / Kingwood area that specializes in scuba diving.
Scouts attended the 2:00 PM ceremony.
Brett is a much-loved Scout who recently atttained his Eagle -- just in time!
Brett will stay connected to the Troop during his tour with the Navy.
Please join the Troop in congratulating Brett on this achievment!
The Troop had a very successful Scout Sunday. Flag ceremonies were conducted for the 8:30 AM, 9:40 AM, and 11:00 AM Services. Felix T -- our SPL -- made a presentation during the 11 AM service. The Troop was well received.

This is a long string of impressive achievements for the adult leaders of Troop 1377.

The Troop Shoot for Pedros was held on Sat Jan 6. It was open to first year Scouts (Scouts who were Pedro Scouts at Summer Camp at El Rancho Cima in 2006 or have joined since then.) It included rifle and shotgun shooting.
KUMC's Troop 1377 completed the final phase of Trey's Eagle project -- a large-scale service-oriented undertaking at the Northeast Medical Center. Troop 1377 conducted the second phase of a very large-scale service project at the Northeast medical Center on Sat Dec 30. Troop 1377 completed the first phase of a very large-scale service project at the Northeast medical Center on Sat Dec 16. Two Eagle Scout candidates are coordinating a 1500 square foot (wow!) outdoor eating area at the hospital. The completed project will be a handicap-accessible decking structure for employees, patients, and visitors. This is a very extensive Eagle project that reflects well on the Troop and KUMC.
Numerous Scouts from Troop 1377 and other troops helped to honor Lance Corporal Luke Yepsen, who was recently killed in action while serving in Iraq. He was a close friend of scouts from Troop 1377. Scouts and other citizens lined Woodland Hills with a display of hundreds of American flags on the morning of Thu Dec 21 as the funeral procession passed. This was a very sad event.
Troop 1377 received fantastic news regarding its High Adventure trip for 2008. The Troop gets to go to Philmont Scout Ranch -- some consider this the ultimate Scout adventure. It is very difficult to get into Philmont, so the Troop has not been able to go in quite a number of years.
Philmont is a Boy Scouts national camping area. It is very large and consists of about 215 square miles of rugged wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) range of the Rockies. Philmont has rough terrain and high mountains ranging from 6,500 to almost 12,500 feet.
In other news, Troop 1377 participated in its annual Survival Campout from Fri evening Dec 8 through Sun Dec 10. Scouts had to build their own shelters from materials found in the woods and a bit of twine. It was cold!
Troop 1377 lead an Eagle project that consisted of a large-scale community service project on Sat Dec 2 and Sun Dec 3 resurfacing the crushed granite paths around Atasocita Community-Learning Center.
KUMC's Troop 1377 hauled and set up tables and chairs on the Sat before the Harvest of Blessings and took tickets and distributed lunches after both services on HOB Sunday.
The troop bag sale was conducted. If you want to buy very heavy duty lawn and leaf bags and support KUMC's troop, visit bagsale.troop1377.net
The Troop went to Hamman Scout Camp in the Texas hill country on Fri, Nov 10-12 to camp and learn climbing shooting skills.
On Sat Nov 18, Troop 1377 ran 2 Eagle service projects: landscaping at Kingwood Middle School and constructing 4 cement tetherball courts for Elm Grove Elementary School.
