The First Class Emphasis Program

Gaining the Fundamental Scouting Skills -- Advancement to First Class

From the "Scouting Terms and Style" section in the "The Language of Scouting" area of www.scouting.org, First Class Emphasis is described in these terms:

"The First Class Emphasis increases the tenure of new Scouts by focusing on each Scout and his personal advancement needs."

Troop 1377 has instituted an entire intensive training program to emphasize the skills needed to advance to First Class. In the first year, most new Scouts progress through the First Class Rank. This is very important to the new boys and the Troop, since the skills developed beginning with the Scout Rank and continuing through the First Class Rank include all the basic skills required in the Boy Scouting program.

Once a Scout achieves the First Class Rank, Troop 1377 offers many opportunities to experience leadership and provide service as they work towards achieving their Star, Life and Eagle Scout Ranks.
